Three men were arrested after a Toronto senior was robbed of more than $1M from their renovation scheme.
3 men have been arrested by Toronto Police who are thought to have ran the contracting scheme that defrauded an elderly woman of over 1 million dollars.
A woman hired a contractor to do renovations on her home, located in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue West area of the city.
Investigators have alleged that the contractor defrauded the woman of more than a million dollars.
From Feb. 2011 to Oct. 2022, police identified 14 victims, who had been defrauded of a combined $400,000. They discovered that these victims had all been approached in the same manner and five of them were also over 65 years old, according to authorities.
Antonio is suspected of committing two counts of fraud worth more than $5,000, one count of possessing the proceeds of crime, and one count of laundering this money.
McNeil was indicted by the RCMP on two accounts of fraud over $5,000. Francesco was indicted for one count of fraud of $5,000.
It seems as though these three men are running many company names, with efforts including ‘In Times for Finishing Touches,’ ‘Scala Exteriors,’ and ‘AFS Contracting and Design.’ They’ve even told investigators that they had a company called ‘Upper Level Renovations.’
Reviews for ‘In Times for Finishing Touches’ detail a number of unfinished projects.
“He just took the money and ran, not finishing the job,” one person wrote. “Didn’t show up a lot.”
“The upstairs (main) bathroom has been ripped out for over six months, but is still not usable in any way….and we are seniors, so it’s really challenging for us.”
The three men are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, December 16th, at 1000 Finch Avenue, in Court Room 301, at 2:30 pm.
